Around 7:30 am near Adhe village in Maval, the incident occurred as the bus was traveling from Mumbai to Pune. Sources report that a tyre burst followed by a short circuit caused the fire to erupt. The bus driver’s quick thinking led to the safe evacuation of all passengers, preventing a potentially tragic incident.
The patrolling team from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), along with officials from the fire department and Vadgaon Maval traffic police, quickly mobilized to the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
Videos of the incident depicted the bus fully engulfed in flames as thick plumes of smoke rose into the sky. Fire department personnel successfully extinguished the blaze, but the bus sustained complete damage due to the intense fire. Traffic on the expressway momentarily stopped to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure commuter safety in the area.
Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire, while assisting passengers with arrangements for their onward travel.
