Mumbai: Passenger Arrested For Smoking Aboard Phuket Flight

The passenger, Bhavya Gautam Jain, has been booked under the Aircraft Act. As per the law, smoking is strictly prohibited during flights.

A 25-year-old passenger was arrested for allegedly smoking inside an aircraft lavatory, police said. The passenger was held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

According to reports, passengers noticed smoke coming out of the lavatory, which led to chaos inside the Phuket–Mumbai flight.

The passenger, Bhavya Gautam Jain, has been booked under the Aircraft Act. As per the law, smoking is strictly prohibited during flights.

Similarly, in the month of June this year, a man allegedly misbehaved with a woman crew member onboard a Jaipur-bound Air India Express flight from Dubai after consuming alcohol, sources confirmed.

The incident occurred during the flight. The passenger, in an inebriated state, behaved inappropriately with a member of the cabin crew. Upon landing at Jaipur International Airport, the crew immediately reported the matter to airport security.

Following the crew’s complaint, the police were informed, and a formal case was registered by the airline. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, sources said.

“The airline has submitted a formal complaint. The matter is under investigation by the relevant authorities,” a source familiar with the development said.
