Mumbai Hit-And-Run Case: Authorities Arrest Father And Driver, But Who Is Mihir Shah And Where Is He?

Mihir Shah, 24, is the son of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah. Mihir dropped out after 10th grade and started helping his father in the construction and real estate business in Maharashtra.

A woman died in a hit and run case in Worli, Mumbai, on Sunday morning around 5 am. Her husband is seriously injured. After a long interrogation, the Worli Police arrested Rajesh Shah and Rajarshi Bidawar, who were in the car at the time of the accident. Rajesh Shah is Mihir Shah's father, and Mihir has been missing since the accident. The police said Mihir drove the BMW that hit the couple. He also went to his girlfriend's house after the accident, and the police have questioned her as well. Mihir Shah, 24 years old, is the son of Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader. Mihir dropped out after the 10th grade and started helping his father in the construction and real estate business in Maharashtra. During the incident, Mihir was driving a luxury car with Rajarshi Bidawar, who has been arrested by the police. After the accident, the police found the abandoned BMW car in Kalanagar, Bandra East. Mihir left the car in Bandra and fled in an auto-rickshaw, while Rajarshi Bidawat also took an auto-rickshaw to Borivali. Initial investigations revealed that Mihir went to his girlfriend's house before fleeing. The police are questioning her for possibly sheltering him. They have also arrested Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah, as the BMW was registered in his name. Mihir Shah faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder (105), negligent driving endangering human life (281), causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety (125-B), and mischief causing damage or injury (238, 324 (4)).

Mumbai Police Is Investigating The Case

The police investigation revealed that a few hours before the hit and run, Mihir went to a pub with friends. The pub owner stated that Mihir did not drink alcohol, only Red Bull. Currently, the police are investigating whether Mihir was drunk at the time of the incident. Reacting to the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that the law applies equally to everyone and no one will be exempt. The government treats every case the same way, with no special rules for this accident. He emphasized that everything will be done according to the law and the police will not protect anyone. Shinde called the Mumbai accident unfortunate and instructed the police department to take strict action.
