There was a tense moment as an Air India flight was speeding down the runway for takeoff while an IndiGo flight was descending to land. Thankfully, the Air India plane managed to lift off just in time, narrowly avoiding a collision with the IndiGo aircraft.

‘On June 8, 2024, passengers aboard IndiGo flight 6E 6053 from Indore experienced a moment of concern as the aircraft was granted landing clearance by ATC at Mumbai Airport. Despite this, the skilled Pilot in Command executed the approach and landing as instructed by the Air Traffic Control. IndiGo, deeply committed to passenger safety, promptly reported the incident in accordance with our stringent protocols,’ shared a spokesperson from IndiGo with a leading aviation news outlet.

Amidst the unfolding events, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated an investigation into the incident. In a move reflecting seriousness, the Air Traffic Control (ATC) personnel responsible for authorizing the IndiGo’s flight landing on the occupied runway has been temporarily relieved from duty, awaiting the investigation’s findings.
