Mumbai Airport Bomb Threat: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Maharashtra received bomb threat on Wednesday afternoon. The threat was received from an unidentified caller who informed the security personnel about a person carrying explosives.
According to reports, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) control room at Terminal 1 of the airport received the call. The caller mentioned that a person named Mohammad was allegedly carrying explosives on a flight from Mumbai to Azerbaijan.
Mumbai Airport Bomb Threat: CISF Takes Action
The CISF team acted immediately and alerted the Sahar Police Station. Officers were immediately deployed at the airport for further investigation.
Reports indicate that the caller however didn’t specify the flight details and ended the call abruptly around 3 pm. Authorities have now begun investigation to trace the caller.
As a precautionary measure, security has been heightened at the airport. Police are conducting thorough checks to ensure passenger safety.
In another incident, a flight from Nagpur to Kolkata made an emergency landing at Raipur airport following a bomb threat. SSP Santosh Singh informed that the plane is being checked at the airport and further probe is underway.

Notably, there have been surge in threat calls to the airport. As per reports, over 450 hoax calls were reported in October.
Seeing the increasing number of hoax calls, National Investigation Agency (NIA) also stepped up to address these threats. NIA’s cyber wing is focused on finding the motive behind these calls and has launched a comprehensive analysis of these foreign threat calls.
