After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, the railway ministry has directed National High-Speed Rail Corporation to prepare a plan of DPRs for four new routes including Delhi.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is the first major step toward this transformation, and the government has plans to roll out similar corridors across the country.
According to reports, the Ministry of Railways has tasked the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) with preparing detailed project reports for more high-speed routes.
The proposed new corridors include Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Amritsar, and Mumbai-Nagpur. These projects aim to dramatically reduce travel times and provide world-class facilities to passengers.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is a cornerstone of this vision, connecting two major cities over a 508-kilometre stretch.
The train, capable of reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h, will link 12 stations, including Mumbai, Thane, Surat, and Ahmedabad. Construction on the project is progressing quickly, with over 336 km of pier foundations already completed, and 331 km of piers constructed.
Additionally, 260 km of girders have been cast, with 225 km already launched. One of the most innovative parts of the project is a 21-kilometer-long undersea tunnel, adding complexity and technological advancement to the project.
