New Delhi: Indian parliamentary traditions sunk to a new low as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ramesh Bidhuri abused Bahujan Samaj Party’s (BSP) MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha. Bidhuri called him “Muslim ugrawadi” (Muslim terrorist), pimp, and circumcised while speaking in the Lower House. Danish Ali is a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha Lok Sabha seat.

Bidhuri’s controversial comments in the Lok Sabha were televised, causing widespread outrage on social media.
Taking to X, (previously Twitter), Trinamool’s firebrand leader Mahua Moitra shared the video wherein Bidhuri can be heard using unparliamentary words against fellow MP. Demanding action against Bidhuri, Moitra said, “Keeper of Maryada @ombirlakota, Vishwaguru @narendramodi & BJP Prez @JPNadda along with GodiMedia- any action please?”

BIDHURI’s REMARKS TO BE EXPUNGED
Expressing disappointment over the BJP MP’s ‘objectionable’ remarks, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said,”I have urged the Chair to expunge them from the proceedings if they have hurt the opposition members.”
Echoing similar remarks, Congress MP K Suresh, who was in the Chair at the time the remarks were made, said he has ordered the remarks to be expunged.

Reacting strongly to Bidhuri’s statement, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said “we are habitual of hearing it”.
“Those words were used against the whole Muslim community. I can’t understand how can Muslims associated with the BJP tolerate this? This shows what they think about Muslims…They should be ashamed,” Abdullah said.
RJD MP Manoj Jha said he is “saddened but not surprised” at Bidhuri’s remarks. “This is the truth of PM’s ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. We need to think that if such words were used for an MP in Parliament, then to what kind of language against Muslims, Dalits legitimacy is been given? Till now, the PM could not say a word on Ramesh Bidhuri,” Jha said.
