A 23-year-old man allegedly raped a 30-year-old woman while she was going to attend nature’s call under the jurisdiction of the Katni police of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, said an official.
The accused was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) after the survivor alerted the police. In a bid to escape from the police, the accused locked himself in the toilet of a moving train.
Police said the survivor alleged that on Monday she boarded the Jabalpur-Rewa Memu train at Pakaria railway station. Pakaria is located between Jabalpur and Katni.
“When the survivor was going to attend nature’s call, accused Pankaj Kushwah, 23, a native of Banda in Uttar Pradesh, waylaid her and raped the survivor in a moving train,” said an official, adding that the woman somehow managed to escape herself from his clutches and approached GRP Satna after which a team arrested the accused, who was found hidden inside the toilet of train.
A rape case under relevant sections of the IPC was registered against the accused, and a case was registered, and further investigations are underway.
