This means that female students will no longer be required to attend college while they are on their periods. The Law University has already issued official orders. Furthermore, it clarified that this leave will be effective from this semester.

Leaves To Be Included In The Six Days Holidays Allocated To All Students 

Dr Shailesh N Hadli, the acting Vice Chancellor of the university, revealed that the decision came in response to long-standing requests from the Student Bar Association. These menstrual leave days will be included in the six holidays allocated to students each semester. This move is expected to contribute positively to the physical and mental well-being of female students.

Kerela University Took A Similar Step Earlier This Year

It’s worth noting that back in March 2023, Kerala University also introduced a similar policy, providing special menstrual leave and maternity leave for female students. According to the new regulations, female students will need to maintain a minimum attendance of 73% after the implementation of menstrual leave. Additionally, a generous six-month maternity leave option has been introduced, ensuring that female students can return to college without the need for re-admission after this period.
