The police, responding to a report about the blaze, arrived at the scene despite the victim’s request to stay away, as he claimed everything had already burned down. Lallu initially accused a man from a neighboring village, whom he claimed had taken his wife, of starting the fire. However, further investigation revealed that Lallu had not made any effort to put out the blaze and was discovered resting on a cot. Despite his claim of no available water, the police used water from nearby pits to control the fire.
