New Delhi: Amid ruckus over demands of a detailed discussion on Manipur violence and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brief statement on the same, Lok Sabha was adjourned on Tuesday till 2 PM.
Lok Sabha Chairperson Om Birla urged the protesting MPs to resume their seats and let the proceedings take place but the uproar continued in the Lower House. The sloagneering and demands were started as soon as the Question Hour began.

He asked the MPs showing placards and raising slogans were against the parliamentary tradition that does not solve any problem. He said, “Maintain the dignity of the House.”
Since the beginning of the proceedings on July 20, the Opposition leaders have been lashing out at the Narendra Modi-led central government demanding the latter to address the matter in brief.
Violence has engulfed Manipur since May and the situation got worse with a disturbing video emerging of at least a thousand men forcing two women belonging to Kuki-Zo community to strip off and then carried a porcession of them. They took the women to a field and allegedly gang-raped one of the victims.
Strongly condemning the incident, Congress and other opposition parties have demanded discussion on the situation in Manipur. Many of them have also submitted a notice in the Parliament to suspend discussion on other businesses for having the same on Manipur violence.
The Opposition have also demanded that the Prime Minister must give a statement on the matter who have addressed the issue for once only.
Before joining to the proceedings in the Parliament, floor leaders from the Opposition side had held a meeting on Tuesday morning to discuss their strategy amid the impasse in Parliament.
