Mohan Yadav: New Chief Minister Of Madhya Pradesh

BJP in its legislative meeting, that took place on Monday has finally announced its chief minister for the state of Madhya Pradesh.

BJP in its legislative meeting, that took place on Monday, has finally announced its chief minister for the state of Madhya Pradesh. The party has picked Mohan Yadav to serve the state. This name comes as a surprise for many reasons including the fact that there were at least six senior leaders in the queue as top contenders. Yadav became an MLA for the first time in 2013 from Ujjain (South). In the 2018 elections too, he won on the very same consistency to be a cabinet minister of the state in 2020. After taking almost a month time, post-2017 assembly elections in UP, this has been the second time that the BJP took more than a week to announce the chief minister's name in the states it has won by a majority. On December 10, it announced Vishnu Deo Sai, a renowned leader from the tribal community, as the chief minister of Chhattisgarh. Out of 230 assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, BJP has bagged a whopping majority of 163 seats whereas the opposition party, Congress has been restricted to 66 seats. BSP could not manage to fetch any seats this time. The 2023 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh was a litmus test not just for the BJP at the center level but also for the rebel leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who with his 21 MLAs helped Shivraj Singh Chouhan to form the government after unsettling the running government of Kamal Nath. Will Scindia still be impactful? Has Chouhan still the magic? All these questions were answered by the voters who showered their trust in the form of votes upon the BJP. Ladli Behna has done its job they say, it was one of the ambitious policies of the Shivraj govt in Madhya Pradesh.
