Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi over not inviting grand old party’s national president Mallikarjun Kharge to G20’s dinner, Congress Tamil Nadu leader Mohan Kumaramangalam on Friday accused him of following Manusmriti. He said ‘Modi hai toh Manu hai’.
Manusmriti (Laws of Manu) – the ancient Sanskrit text often described as a ‘guide to Hindu conduct’. This sacred Hindu scripture is attributed to the legendary sage Maharshi Manu.
He said that the PM Modi is following Manusmriti even after it has been criticised by several scholars stating that the script promotes caste-based discrimination.
While underlining several instances from the past, Kumaramangalam mentioned that the former President Ramnath Kovind was not invited to the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ of Ram temple. “However, President Droupadi Murmu was also not invited to the opening ceremony of the new Parliament building in the national capital,” he added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government, stating, “It tells you that they don’t value the leader of the Opposition and didn’t invite us to the G20 Summit. They don’t value the leadership of 60% of the nation’s population.”
Kharge’s office confirmed that he was not invited to the G20 dinner hosted by the President on Saturday. However, it has been reported that no leader from any other political party has been invited either.
Invitations to the dinner have been extended to Cabinet members, state ministers, chief ministers, secretaries to the Government of India, and other distinguished guests.
