In an unexpected turn of events on Tuesday afternoon, commuters in Lucknow panicked after witnessing an MI-17 helicopter flying in close proximity to the Vidhan Bhawan, a no-fly zone. Many individuals captured this unusual scene on their mobile phones, sparking curiosity on social media. However, this event was actually a staged exercise conducted jointly by the National Security Guard (NSG) and the UP Police, aimed at preparing for unforeseen security situations.
Upendra Kumar Agarwal, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) in Lucknow, explained, “The drill was conducted to enhance the technological capabilities of the state police in handling security challenges.” This comprehensive exercise spans three days, including Wednesday and Thursday. Similar drills are scheduled at various locations throughout the city, including Vidhan Bhawan and Lok Bhawan. Agarwal emphasized that due to security concerns, detailed information would be shared after the mock drills concluded.
