Mob Attempts to Torch Bus
The mob surrounded the yellow school bus and even placed burning tyres under it, trying to ignite a fire. Visuals from the scene showed multiple tyres ablaze on the road, posing a severe threat to the children inside the bus.
Swift Action by Authorities
Gopalganj Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, credited the swift police response for saving the bus. He stated that a high alert had been issued in the area and that drones were used to identify troublemakers. The police have already filed FIRs against several individuals involved in the violence, and those responsible for the attack on the bus will face severe legal consequences.
Bharat Bandh Protest Response
The Bharat Bandh, called by Dalit organizations in protest against a Supreme Court ruling on SC reservations, saw a mixed response in Gopalganj. While many roads, including National Highway 27 and railway tracks, were disrupted, some areas remained functional with vehicles on the roads. Despite the violence, law enforcement efforts helped maintain relative order in the region.
