Mizoram: ZPM Leader Lalduhoma Takes Charge As CM
Zoram People's Movement’s (ZPM’s) leader Lalduhoma on Friday took oath as the new chief minister of Mizoram.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office and secrecy to Lalduhoma and other ministers at the Raj Bhavan complex in Aizawl.
However, if conditions don't permit, the program will be relocated to the assembly's annex building, as reported by the news agency PTI.
After Monday's assembly polls, the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) clinched a decisive victory, ousting the reigning Mizo National Front (MNF) with a significant lead of 27 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress trailed behind with two and one seat, respectively.

Eddy Zosangliana, ZPM media cell general secretary, stated that the Val Upa Council, an advisory body of the party, convened to discuss the formation of the council of ministers, given the 40-member assembly, allowing for 12 ministers, including the chief minister.
Upon assuming office, Lalduhoma pledged that his party would establish a resource mobilization team for financial reforms. "Mizoram is facing financial crises... That is what we are going to inherit from the outgoing government...We are going to fulfill our commitment... Financial reform is necessary, and for that, we are going to make a resource mobilization team."

He stressed that if his party took power in the November 7 elections in Mizoram, prioritizing farmers would be paramount. Additionally, Lalduhoma committed to constructing three new hydroelectric dams, aiming for an approximate generation of 300 MW of power. He assured that there would be no increase in power tariffs for the next five years.
