Mirzapur Train Tragedy: 5 Dead as Kalka-Howrah Express Hits Pilgrims, CM Yogi Calls for Probe

A major train accident occurred this morning at Chunar railway station in Mirzapur. Six people were killed after being hit by the Kalka-Howrah Express train. According to media reports, the passengers who died had come to take a holy dip on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. 

All these passengers had come for the Karktik Purnima Bath and were victims of the accident due to getting off the train in the wrong direction. A heavy force was deployed at the spot, and relief rescue operations are underway. The Railway administration has ordered an investigation while an atmosphere of chaos prevails in the station.

Chief Minister Yogi has expressed grief over the accident and has ordered an investigation into the accident. Witnessing the terrible accident, Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the situation and expressed condolences for the bereaved families

UP Minister Sanjeev Kumar Gaud told the media, "This is an unfortunate incident. We came to know that 6 people have died here, 5 of them belonged to Mirzapur district, and 1 belonged to Sonbhadra. They were coming for Ganga Snan on a train and met with this accident. I express my sympathies to the bereaved families. May their soul rest in peace. We express our condolences to the bereaved families. We will provide them with compensation." Meanwhile, he assured action against those responsible in case any negligence is found during the investigation.
