A 40-year-old man who was kidnapped by his school auto-rickshaw driver in 1993 was reunited with his family members after 31 years on Tuesday in Ghaziabad, said police, adding that the man walked to the police station with a letter.
When police checked the 31-year-old’s record, they were shocked to find that he was kidnapped in September 1993, and a case was also registered at Khoda police station. Later, when his family members were informed, his mother reacted casually as she received seven to eight calls in the last 30 years from the police station but returned home without any hope.
“On Tuesday, when I received a call, I thought this call was also like other previous calls. When I went to the police, I was shocked to find my son alive in front of my eyes,” she told the media. The family identified their son with his tattoos.

Police said Bhim Singh, a resident of Ghaziabad, was kidnapped by an auto driver of his school and was handed over to a truck driver. The truck driver then sold him to a man in a remote area of Jaisalmer.
“In Jaisalmer, he was sold to a herder, whom Bhim identified as his master. He was tasked to herd goats and chained in the night, so he cannot escape,” revealed the police investigation.
Police said that a Delhi-based businessman rescued him and pieced all details in a letter, which helped Bhim to reunite with his family. Bhim’s father, who is a retired employee, is involved in the flour mill business. Police said now they are looking for a man who kidnapped him and sold him to a herder. Cops are also gathering details of the herder.
