In a shocking incident, a minor son set his father on fire after being scolded by him in Haryana’s Faridabad. The incident took place in Ajay Nagar Part-2 on February 18. According to police, the deceased was living in a rented accommodation.
The police said the father had scolded his 14-year-old son on suspicion of theft, which irked him, and he set him on fire.
Landlord Riyazuddin woke up around 2 am after hearing the tenant, Mohammed Aleem screaming. He found the door was locked from the inside. The landlord went to his neighbour’s home. He took the stairs to reach the roof. He saw a fire in the room, and Aleem was screaming.
The landlord said when they opened the door, he found the body of Aleem, and he had sustained severe burn injuries and died on the spot. He said Aleem’s son had fled from the crime scene.
A senior police officer said the initial probe suggests that the son may have sprinkled inflammable substance on his father and set him ablaze. The police detained the minor and interrogated him.
