'We lost 5 soldiers in Operation Sindoor,' says DGMO
Ministry Of Defence Briefing Live Updates: The Ministry of Defence will hold a media briefing today on the current situation. The presser follows the last briefing held by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday night after Pakistan violated ceasefire. Five hours after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that India and Pakistan had reached an understanding to halt all firing and military actions across land, air, and sea with immediate effect, reports of ceasefire violations by Pakistan began to surface.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during the briefing said, “An understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. For the last few hours, this understanding is being violated by Pakistan. The Indian Army is retaliating and dealing with this border intrusion. This intrusion is extremely condemnable and Pakistan is responsible for it. We believe that Pakistan should understand this situation properly and take appropriate action immediately to stop this intrusion.”
He added, “The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the borders along the international border as well as the line of control.”
It is important to note that after Misri’s last briefing, no drone activity or shelling from the side of Pakistan was reported overnight. According to several on ground reports, the situation appears normal in major districts of Jammu and Kashmir. After days of heavy shelling by Pakistan, no drones, firing or shelling was reported overnight in Kupwara, Samba, Poonch and Rajouri. However, Amritsar remains on alert with tight security in place.

In a statement issued late last night, Pakistan claimed that India fired BrahMos missiles at its military bases following Pakistan’s own escalation by launching missiles into Indian territory.
There is no ground to such claims.
US President Donald Trump on Sunday welcomed the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, saying that millions of people could have died if the peace had not been worked out. The US President was referring to a potential nuclear fallout between the two nations. In a post on Truth Social, the US President said, “I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have led to the death and destruction of so many, and so much.”
PM Modi is currently chairing a high-level meeting at his residence.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan are among those present.
National Security Advisor of India, Ajit Doval on Saturday had a telephonic conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During the conversation, Doval stated that India and Pakistan would be committed to a ceasefire and look forward to restoring regional peace and stability as soon as possible. He highlighted that “War was not India’s choice and was not in the interests of any party.” He briefed the Chinese Foreign Minister about Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, which caused casualties among Indian personnel. Doval reiterated that India needed to take counter-terrorism actions.
Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) on Sunday said that operations are proceeding smoothly at the Delhi Airport.“Delhi Airport operations continue to run smoothly.
