Ajay Kumar JD(U) wins with a total of 34238 votes
Located in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district, Minapur forms a part of the Vaishali Lok Sabha seat. Established in the year 1951, Minapur has witnessed 17 Assembly elections so far. The Congress party won the seat five times between 1951 and 1972. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has won three times — February 2005, 2015, and 2020 — through Raj Kumar alias Munna Yadav. But this time, the results showed a change in the trends, as Ajay Kumar of the Janata Dal (United) defeated Rajeev Kumar Munna Yadav by a margin of 34,238 Votes.
In the past, Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United) secured two victories each, while their earlier avatars — Janata Party, Lok Dal, and Samyukta Socialist Party — won once a piece. The Communist Party, Lok Dal, and Samyukta Socialist Party won once apiece; the Communist Party of India and an Independent candidate have also won the seat once each.
Since the 2014 parliamentary polls, LJP has showcased consistent strength in the Minapur segment, leading by 20,883 votes in the 2024 elections. With LJP back in the NDA fold, RJD has credible reasons to be apprehensive about its prospects in 2025. If NDA manages to pool votes effectively, the seat might swing back. Vote counting has begun –
