New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor Tuesday hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders who have sought an apology from Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi allegedly for insulting India in abroad.
Tharoor listed out several events of Prime Minister Narendra Modi where the latter “constantly attacked” previous Indian government, Conrgess party and alleged lack of progress before at foreign land, before coming to power in Centre.
He added that the “kind of discourse abroad was initiated by PM Modi not by Congress.”

Meanwhile, the Congress MP backed Rahul Gandhi on his comments in UK saying the latter did not say anything that requires an apology.
“Rahul Gandhi has not said anything that requires an apology. He expressed concern about the state of our democracy and attacks on it by the practices of the ruling government,” said Tharoor.

A demand of an apology by Rahul Ganndhi was raised in the Parliament on March 13 by the BJP leaders on the day of commencement of second leg of Union Budget 2023.
The saffron party alleged that Gandhi has “insulted” the nation in United Kingdom where he was invited for media interaction and to deliver a lecture at Cambridge University.
