Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) has come under scrutiny after some students raised concern over irregularities. The students have claimed that over a dozen questions had incorrect options. The MHT-CET is a State-level common entrance examination and was conducted by the government on Sunday, April 27. Maharashtra’s State Common Entrance Test Cell conducted the test for admissions in engineering colleges for the academic year 2025-26. Students claimed that 15 CULTUI mathematics questions in the first shift on the final day had irrelevant or incorrect options.
As per reports, students complained that 20 to 25 questions in the 50-mark mathematics paper had incorrect answer options at the exam center in Ahilyanagar district. In the mathematics paper alone, out of the 50 questions, 20 to 25 had incorrect answer options. Whereas, in some questions, all the four options were incorrect.
What Do When Such Issues Arise?
Whenever such issues arise during any examination, candidates are instructed to follow grievance redressal process. The MHT-CET 2025 Information Brochure, lists down the steps to approach such issue. According to it, candidates must report their concerns to the invigilator in their examination block. Candidates facing problems like incorrect questions or administrative errors can easily approach the invigilator. The invigilator then communicates the issue to the venue officer, who is appointed by the commissioner of the State CET Cell. The venue officer operates from 7.30 am until the end of the examination. Following the action by invigilator, the venue officer examines the grievance on the spot and makes a necessary decision.
Moreover, candidates can submit their concerns through an official website www.mahacet.org for objection related to error in question papers.
Notably, the MHT-CET 2025 PCM examination consists of three multiple-choice question (MCQ) papers, each carrying 100 marks. The total duration is 180 minutes, with the first 90 minutes dedicated to Physics and Chemistry, followed by 90 minutes for mathematics. State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra allocates 20% weightage to the Class XI curriculum and 80% to Class XII in the syllabus.
