Demand to Restrict Entry for Non-Hindus

Some Hindu saints have recently raised demands to prohibit non-Hindus from attending the Kumbh Mela. Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati voiced his support, comparing the situation to the restrictions placed on non-Muslims from entering Mecca. He argued that just as Muslims have sacred sites reserved exclusively for their faith, the Kumbh Mela should be reserved for Hindus. Saraswati said, “It’s like saying “Mere angne mein tumhara kya kaam hai?”.

Proposal to Declare Cow as the “National Mother”

In a press conference focused on the cultural and religious importance of the cow, Shankaracharya urged the government to declare the cow as the “National Mother.” He emphasized that cow protection should be reinforced, including criminalizing cow slaughter, especially in preparation for the Kumbh.

Planned Rituals to Promote Cow Protection

Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand announced his intention to conduct a grand yagna during the Kumbh Mela. This ritual, dedicated to the cow, aims to further spread awareness and uphold the significance of cow protection within Hindu society.

Appointment of Gau Rakshaks Across India

To strengthen cow protection, Shankaracharya appointed 36 representatives to oversee each state. In addition, each assembly constituency will have a “Gau Vidhanak (Cow Legislator)” and each parliamentary constituency a “Gau Sansad (Cow MP)” dedicated to this cause. He also called on Hindus to defend their faith and the cow, asserting that protection of their religious values would lead to societal support and strength.
