Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case: Scene Recreated In Sohra; Sonam Admits Raja Was Killed In Front Of Her

On a rainy morning in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills, police recreated the crime scene where businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered during his honeymoon.

In a sensational twist, the police today recreated the incident of the brutal murder of Raja Raghuvanshi on May 23 at the same place and time between 1:18 pm and 2:00 pm, at the selfie point opposite WEI SAWDONG parking lot. The SIT team, under the supervision of Shillong SP Vivek, brought Sonam Raghuvanshi and the three accused killers to the spot and recreated the entire incident of that day.

The recreation was done exactly as it happened that day — when Sonam lured Raja to the selfie point on the pretext of clicking a photo, and then murdered him along with the three accused. Raja’s body was later dumped in a nearby ditch.

After the murder, Sonam took one of the accused on her scooty for about 10 km, while the other two fled on another scooty. In today’s reconstruction, the police got Sonam out of the car at exactly 1:18 am — the exact time when the crime was committed.

SP Vivek shared several key details during the crime scene investigation. The accused have confessed to their crime, following which they were taken to the parking spot where the scooty was initially parked. There they were shown the specific spot from where Raja started the scooty, and a photograph of that moment was taken as evidence. The accused were then also taken to the spot where Raja was murdered.

Regarding the weapons used in the murder, it was found that two DAU weapons were used. One of these, which was orange in colour, is in the possession of the police, while the other weapon has not been recovered yet. When the crime scene was reconstructed, the accused explained in detail how Vishal had attacked. Medical tests proved that Raja had suffered two serious injuries on his head, confirming that both the weapons were used in the murderous attack.

Raja had two serious head injuries, which clearly shows that both weapons were used. Today’s incident brought back painful memories of that afternoon of May 23 – the same time, the same place, perhaps that horrific moment came alive again in Sonam’s mind too.

Police investigation revealed that Sonam was present at the spot when suspects allegedly killed Raja Raghuvanshi. As they hit Raja, Sonam fled the spot as blood started spilling out. Later, they threw Raja’s body in the gorge. It was also revealed that all three suspects attacked one time each.

Police said they have recovered two weapons used in the crime while an investigation is underway to recover the third. “We are also investigating the financial angle and possible love triangle. Sonam’s family members will also be interrogated,” said a senior police officer.
