A chargesheet has been filed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Meghalaya Police in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. The SIT has charged victim Raja Raghuvanshi’s wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, her lover Raj Kushwaha and three others with murder.
Meghalaya Police have submitted a 790-page chargesheet in the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Sohra Sub-Division, in connection with the murder of an Indore businessman that shocked the country earlier this year.

Vivek Syiem, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, said that once the pending forensic reports are received, police will file a supplementary chargesheet against three others linked to the case – property dealer Silome James, building owner Lokendra Tomar (where Sonam stayed after the crime), and local security guard Balbir Ahirbar.
James, Tomar, and Ahirbar were arrested for allegedly destroying and hiding evidence, but are now out on bail.
The case first came to light as a report of 29-year-old Raja and 24-year-old Sonam going missing in Meghalaya. But what started as a search for a “missing couple” from Indore soon unfolded into a story of shocking betrayal.
The couple tied the knot on May 11 and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. On May 23, they went missing shortly after leaving a homestay in Nongriat village, about 20 km from the spot where Raja’s body was discovered on June 2.
On June 8, Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and surrendered later at Nandganj police station. Sonam reportedly confessed to killing her husband on June 11.
