Meet The Designers Behind ‘Operation Sindoor’: The Army Duo Who Made A Mission A National Emotion

The 22 minutes attack on terror bases in Pakistan and PoK was meticulously planned by the Indian Army, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.

The logo of ‘Operation Sindoor’, carried out by the Indian Armed forces on May 7 in response to Pahalgam terror attack has left a lasting impression. It has now become a part of national ethos and India’s stand against terrorism. The logo captured attention and became a powerful symbol of the tragic killing that happened in Pahalgam. It has become ‘Once Seen, Never Forgotten’ symbol.

The logo features the word ‘Operation Sindoor’ written in bold letters in black background. A bowl of Sindoor (vermillion) forms one O of the word.  ‘Sindoor; holds deep significance in Hindu culture, it is applied by married women, which symbolizes their marital status. The colour red further signifies the rage and grief of women who lost their husbands in the attack.

The strategic naming and the striking logo was appreciated by everyone including world leaders also. But, do you know whose brain was behind the creation of this logo?

Meet The Minds Behind The Logo

The latest edition of the Army’s magazine ‘Baatcheet’ revealed that the logo of the military action was designed by Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Havildar Surinder Singh. The logo was designed by the Social Media Section of the Additional Directorate General of Strategic Communication. It was disclosed along with the first visuals from the command centre of ‘Operation Sindoor’, released by the Indian Army HQ Operations room.

Named By PM Modi
Notably, the name of the Operation was given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address said, “Operation Sindoor was not just a military mission, but the face of a changing India. It reflects the country’s resolve, courage, and growing strength on the global stage.”

The logo was first shared on May 7 by the Indian Army after the successful operation with the message that read: “Justice Is served.”

The Ministry Of Defence stated in a release: “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted. Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.”

During his interaction with soldiers at the Bhuj air force station, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said,

“Operation Sindoor was named by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. What you all accomplished during this operation has made every Indian proud. It took just 23 minutes for the Indian Air Force to dismantle the terrorism being harboured in Pakistan.”
