Rajkot: A private school located on Kunvarva Road in Rajkot district of Gujarat has developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based robot. Interestingly, this AI robot teaches students various subjects in engaging way. This is a humanoid robot, created with the help of AI. Apart from teaching students, the robot also helps to solve their problems. The total cost of this robot is approximately 2 to 2.5 lakh rupees
According to robot developers and school management of New Flora English Medium School in Rajkot, this is first robot of Gujarat which educates students. The robot is capable of teaching over 500 students, from kindergarten to 10th standard. This robot even answers the questions asked by students. To develop this AI-based robot, developers have used coding and AI.
Features Of AI Robot
The robot can speak English and Hindi and teach subjects like Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and General Knowledge. A period in the school day has been scheduled for classes by AI robot. The robot is equipped with various software, hardware, and AI technologies.
One of the interesting features of this robot is that unlike other robots it doesn’t operate on batteries. It is connected with an internet link and operates on electric connection. These AI robot teachers can play a significant role in addressing shortage of teachers in far flung areas. It will further hep in providing quality education at low costs.
Moreover, the best thing about this robot is it will take classes regularly, follow instructions, and won’t ask for salary increment and leaves. However, despite all these facilities, biggest challenge for AI lies in rural areas in terms of availability of technology for schools, teachers, and students.
The ideation of developing this robot came from YouTube video, in which a robot was seen teaching in a classroom. Some of the technologies were developed locally and some were purchased externally. The AI robot is set to be enhanced in future, with upgradation of lip and hand movements. Students are excited to learn from this robot teacher.
