Bharat Jain, often dubbed the world’s richest beggar, is a striking example of how unconventional paths can lead to financial success. Known for his presence at busy Mumbai landmarks like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Azad Maidan, Jain has turned begging into a thriving business, earning more than many salaried professionals. His estimated net worth stands at an impressive Rs 7.5 crore, thanks to smart investments and a consistent income from begging and other ventures.
Know His Early life
Born into a financially struggling family, Bharat’s early life was marked by hardship. He missed out on formal education due to financial constraints, but his determination to rise above poverty led him to make shrewd financial decisions over time. For over 40 years, Jain has made begging his primary source of income, earning between Rs 2,000 and Rs 2,500 daily. This regular income brings him between Rs 60,000 to Rs 75,000 each month—far exceeding the earnings of many working professionals.
His ‘Impactful’ Business
Jain’s wealth is not solely from begging. He owns two flats in Mumbai, valued at Rs 1.4 crore, where he lives with his wife, sons, father, and brother. In addition, he generates passive income by owning two shops in Thane, earning Rs 30,000 monthly from rentals. These investments have significantly increased his financial standing and provided security for his family’s future.
Bharat Jain has also ensured his sons received quality education, sending them to a reputed convent school. They now help manage the family’s stationery business, adding another revenue stream. Despite the family’s improved financial situation, his continued choice to beg has led to some disagreements with his loved ones.
However, Bharat remains unapologetic, stating, “I enjoy begging, and I don’t want to give it up.” His story is a testament to how persistence, wise investments, and an unconventional approach to work can lead to remarkable success.
