New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati Tuesday demanded a strict action in the matter from Auraiya district where a Dalit student was beaten to death for an incorrect answer in exam.

Former UP CM Mayawati alleged that the government is trying to sweep the matter under the rug. She said instead of ‘hiding such serious crime,’ the Adityanath Yogi-led state government should take action.

Mayawati stated that people are anguished by the incident. She pointed out such crimes against backward class and women in UP are increasing everyday.

As reported earlier, a Dalit student of class 10 was allegedly beaten to death by his teacher for writing a wrong answer in the exam. The incident was reported from Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh.

Ashwini Singh, the accused teacher had slapped, kicked and brutally beaten up Nikhil, the victim with sticks. The boy was severely injured and his condition was deteriorating.

Initially, the teacher made monetary contribution for Nikhil’s treatment but after two installments, he stopped taking calls from the victim’s family.

On September 27, the bereaved family stopped the police officials to cremate Nikhil’s body. His mother persisted that Nikhil will not be cremated until the police assured them to find the culprit.

However, his cremation was done and the situation was under control.
