Three houses in Uttarakhand were gutted in a fire on Friday after fire from the forest area reached the village in Tiuni district, said officials, adding that the fire was controlled.
According to the reports on Friday when homeowners were out for farming in their agricultural fields, fire from the nearby forest engulfed and swiftly reached close to their homes. By the time locals came to know and tried to douse the fire, it had engulfed the houses. Within a few minutes, all three houses were gutted in fire.
House owners said that they suffered lakhs of loss, and all of their lifetime savings were swept away in minutes. The houses were made of wood.
Locals urged the administration to provide them with financial help. “We have initiated an investigation, and soon the local regional officer will provide it,” said SDM Yogesh Singh Mehra.
According to reports, the forest fire has been engulfing Uttarakhand more than three times in the past few months.
Meanwhile in Chakrata, more than 1200 trees were burned to ashes after a fire broke out in the apple farms. The farmers said that they tried to douse the flames but failed to control it. Local authorities gathered all the details, including financial loss. The investigation revealed that the fire broke out in bushes, and later it engulfed rapidly.
