New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minster Pinarayi Vijayan Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia. The latter has been arrested for alleged involvement in excise policy case and is in judicial custody till March 20.
The Kerala CM pointed out that the arrest of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has threw open an argument “about certain actions of the central investigation agencies.”
“While refraining from commenting on the merits of the case under investigation, let me submit that the arrest of Shri. Sisodia has lent further force to the argument about certain actions of the central investigation agencies. It is the golden principle of natural justice that justice should not only be done, but seem to be done too,” wrote the Kerala CM.

This comes a few days after a joint letter was submitted to PM Modi over Sisodia’s arrest in which, several prominent leaders alleged that the central agencies are being misused to silence the Opposition.

In his letter, CM Vijayan said that as per information coming out in public domain, nothing incriminating like cash seizure has taken place in the case of Manish Sisodia.
“While law has to take its course, it is equally important that the widespread perception that Shri. Sisodia is being targeted for political reasons need to be dispelled. As we emphasise on the principle of cooperative federalism, excessive actions on the part of anyone concerned should be avoided,” he added.
