New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been assigned to look into the sexual assault case in which two Kuki-Zo women were parded naked during on-going Manipur violence.

The video showed the two naked women being forcefully taken to an open field where one of them was allegedly gang-raped later. The gruesome visuals sent the shockwaves through the nation, putting the latter on shame.

The decision to transfer the case to CBI was taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) along with six other cases of violence in Manipur that the federal agency is already looking into.

Following the incident, the Manipur police has booked unidentified armed people under a case of abduction, gang rape and murder at the Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district.

Meanwhile, the CBI has already deployed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the matter in the northeastern state under a DIG-rank officer.

As per the officials, the CBI will send more women officers to the state along with forensic experts to investigate the matter.

Seven out of the entire crowd arrested

So far only 7 accused appearing the video have been arrested. The video that embarrass the entire nation, it showed that two women surrounded by at least a thousand men was in naked state. They alleged that they were asked to strip naked by the armed men.

Post the video being viral on internet, one of the victims alleged that police personnel had rescued them first but they handed over the girls to the lusty crowd. After which, they paraded the women and groped them inappropriately.

The women were later ran in to the forest with the help of a few people and stayed there to defend themselves. Later the matter was taken to the police but no action was taken until the matter came into forth.
