Manipur: Village Chief Beaten to Death By Suspected Kuki Militants in Churachandpur

A 50-year-old village chief, identified as M. Haokip, was allegedly beaten to death by members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) in Manipur’s Churachandpur district. The incident took place on Monday in the southern part of the state, sparking tension in the area. Locals rushed him to the hospital, but he died on the way, according to the officials. Haokip’s body had several bruises and lacerations. Reports said that the attackers thrashed him with blunt objects and sticks. Haokip, was the chief of T Khonomphai village in Henglep sub-division of the Churachandpur district.

Body of Haokip handed over to the Family

Police have registered a case at Henglep Police Station, and an investigation is underway. The body of the deceased was later handed over to the villagers after completion of formalities.
