Manipur Violence: Tension prevailed in Manipur’s Churachandpur after a government building was set on fire on Saturday, which was just two days later when a gym was vandalised that was supposed to be inaugurated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

The incident took place while the administration have already imposed a night curfew in the city from 5 pm to 5 am for indefinite period.

Along with that, large gatherings in Churachandpur is banned while, mobile internet services have been suspended in adjoining Pherzawl district too.

In the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, a few miscreants torched a forest office in Tuibong, officials mentioned.

As per the cops, the number of violent incidents are on rise from the tribal-dominated areas such as Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal district since Friday night.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police P Doungel and senior officials on Saturday reched reached the spot to review the situation in the southern parts of the state.

As reported earlier, ahead of a scheduled visit of Manipur CM, a gym was vandalised and set on fire, hours before it was about to inaugurate by him.
