New Delhi: In a significant move to address the concerns of the affected people in Manipur, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) opposition has dispatched a multi-party delegation of 21 Members of Parliament from 16 parties to conduct an “on-the-spot assessment” of the ground situation in the state. The delegation’s visit comes amidst demands for a detailed discussion on the Manipur situation and a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Will lend ears to them, says NCP MP PP Mohammad Faisal
The primary objective of the delegation’s visit is to understand the plight of the affected people and interact with them directly. NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) MP PP Mohammed Faizal emphasized that the ruling side has not been open to discussing the Manipur issue in the House, hence the opposition’s decision to undertake a field visit.
He stated, “We will go to the camps and interact with the people there. We will lend our ears to them and hear from them – what hardships they faced, what do they expect from us. Their voices will be brought before the government.”
Want to console the victims: IUML PM ET Muhammed Basheer
IUML MP ET Muhammed Basheer echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need for fact-finding and discussions with concerned officials. “We want to console the victims and spread a message of harmony. We will raise the issue with all the experience we gather from there,” he said.
The visit aims to send a strong message of solidarity to the people of Manipur and present their collective pain sensitively when Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the Parliament. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi highlighted the importance of understanding the expectations of the people of Manipur and presenting their case boldly.
Opposition members have been demanding a detailed discussion on the situation in Manipur during the monsoon session of Parliament. Speaker Om Birla has admitted the no-confidence motion against the government moved by opposition members in Lok Sabha. The delegation’s visit is a testament to the I.N.D.I.A alliance’s commitment to raise the people’s voice and bring their grievances to the forefront of national discourse.
