Manipur Violence: The second accused was arrested on Thursday in connection with the horrific video of two Kuki women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur, said Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Addressing the media, Manipur CM said, “One was arrested yesterday and recently I got information that another one has also been arrested now. The interrogation is going on. The state police have arrested the suspected main culprit and those who involve have also been arrested and will be booked as per the law.”

“Suddenly one video clip become viral all over the nation. This was really shocking and today after seeing the viral video all the legislature of the ruling party condemns the heinous crime,” Singh added.

Manipur CM also reiterated that the state government will make all out efforts to get capital punishment for the accused.

Earlier, the Centre on Thursday directed the Twitter and other social media platforms to remove the two-month-old video of two Manipur women who were being paraded naked, and gang raped. The investigation into matter is underway.

According to the sources, the government has asked all Indian social media platforms to abide by the Indian Laws. The order was given when the two-month-old video of Manipur women went viral and triggered shock and outrage among the people.

“The government has issued an order to Twitter and other social media platforms, instructing them not to share the viral video of the two Manipuri women being paraded nude. It is imperative for the social media platforms to adhere to Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation,” they said.

However, in a deeply disturbing incident from Manipur, two women were subjected to an appalling act of violence. They were reportedly paraded naked on a road by a group of men. The incident has rightfully sparked massive condemnation, with calls for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and dignity of all individuals.

On social media, this horrifying video is widely shared which caught the eye of the nation on Wednesday evening.

Manipur Police said that the case of gang-rape and murder has been filed in this matter.

On Wednesday, Manipur Police also tweeted, “As regard to the viral videos of two women paraded naked by unknown armed miscreants on May 4, a case of abduction, gang-rape and murder was filed at Nongpok Sekmai police station (Thoubal district)… Investigation has started. The state police is making all-out efforts to arrest the culprits at the earliest.”
