New Delhi: Five insurgents of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party and People’s War Group (PWG) surrendered to security forces in Manipur on Friday. They surrendered before the Assam Rifles in the presence of police at Somsai in Ukhrul.

According to security forces, “The Assam Rifles over a long period of time engaged in talks with them to motivate them to surrender and join the mainstream.

As per Assam Rifles, they ensure not only helping the cadres to come out of the illegal approach but also rebuilding their lives for change and reconciliation.

The surrendered militants will be sent to a formal ceremony organized by the government after completing all the formalities. Last month, 37 militants had surrendered and laid down their arms in Manipur’s Imphal before Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
