A man in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, disappeared on Tuesday with an AK-47 rifle that belonged to a police officer. Upon receiving this information, the police initiated an extensive search operation to find the man. Authorities were also examining the possibility of any terrorist connections in the incident.
This event occurred amidst a period of heightened terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, with security forces already on high alert.
Sources have identified the man as Muhammad Rafi, a resident of Trown near Pranoo. “He was coming from Bhella towards his village and was accompanied by a Special Police Officer who was carrying the weapon. When reached Pul Doda, the SPO Safdar Hussain deboarded the vehicle to buy some essentials and in the meantime Rafi fled in his car alongwith the rifle. The vehicle has been recovered near Jagota area of Bhalla but neither Rafi nor the weapon was present in the vehicle,” sources revealed.

On Tuesday, security personnel detained three individuals, including a couple, for questioning regarding the movement of terrorists linked to recent attacks in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities suspect that a group of three to four terrorists is currently in the mountainous areas of the district.
On the night of June 11, five soldiers from the Rashtriya Rifles and a special police officer (SPO) were injured in a terrorist attack on a joint check post at Chattergalla in the upper reaches of the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road.
On Wednesday evening, terrorists opened fire on a search party in Kota Top village, Gandoh area of the district, injuring a police officer.
Following these incidents, security personnel have detained three individuals from the Jai area of Doda district.
