Bollywood actor Salman Khan was recently threatened with a demand for ₹5 crore to resolve his ongoing dispute with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The threatening message was sent to the WhatsApp number of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room last week.
Sender’s Regret
In the original message, the sender claimed to be associated with the Bishnoi gang and insisted that the payment was necessary to facilitate a truce between Khan and Bishnoi. The message included a dire warning, stating that if the money was not paid, Khan would face consequences worse than those suffered by politician Baba Siddique, who was shot dead recently. However, just a few days later, the sender sent a follow-up message, expressing remorse and stating that the threatening text was sent by mistake.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Authorities have located the sender in Jharkhand and are in the process of dispatching a team to apprehend the individual responsible for the threats. This is not the first time Salman Khan has been targeted; he has received multiple threats from the Bishnoi gang in recent months, including a shooting incident near his Bandra home in April.

Roots of the Conflict
The feud between Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi dates back to a 1998 incident in which Khan was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks, an animal sacred to the Bishnoi community. The case is still pending in court, and Bishnoi has vowed to take revenge against the actor.
Strengthened Security Measures
In response to these ongoing threats, Salman Khan has been provided with Y+ security, and there is a heightened police presence outside his residence, Galaxy Apartments. To further enhance safety, the Mumbai Police have implemented AI-enabled, high-resolution CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition technology around the area.
