Rajat, 25 who saved Rishabh Pant in an accident, is fighting for his life in a private hospital in Roorkee, while his 21-year-old girlfriend Mannu sadly passed away during treatment on Wednesday.
This man from Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh helped save Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant after his car accident in 2022, drank poison with his girlfriend. Their families did not accept their relationship because they came from different castes.
Rajat who is 25 years old, is still fighting for his life in a private hospital in Roorkee, while his 21-year-old girlfriend Mannu passed away during treatment on Wednesday. The couple was from Buchcha village, near the city of Uttarakhand.
The police said that Rajat and Mannu took this extreme step on February 9 after they found out that Mannu’s parents had arranged her marriage with someone else.
The police have started looking into this matter deeply, however there was no formal complaint from either of the two famlies.
Satyanarayan Prajapat, the Superintendent of Police in Muzaffarnagar, said that further legal action will be taken depending on the evidence found during the investigation.
Reports say that in December 2022, Rajat and his friend Nishu were on their way home to their village when they saw Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes car on fire in Roorkee. They quickly rescued the cricketer and took him to a hospital.
This accident happened when Rishabh was returning to Uttarakhand from Delhi.
At that time, the cricketer said he lost control of the car after falling asleep, which made the car hit the divider and catch fire.
