Amol Kale, 25, a resident of Pune, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Cyber Police for allegedly sending obscene calls and messages to senior Maharashtra leader and minister Pankaja Munde causing her mental suffering. The accused admitted to his actions during interrogation and has been remanded in police custody for further investigation.

As per the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, Pankaja Munde has been receiving obscene calls and messages over the past few days. Nikhil Bhamre, social media coordinator, Maharashtra BJP filed a complaint with the Cyber Police in relation to this matter. The accused was traced and arrested on the basis of technological evidence in Pune.

A case has been filed against Amol Kale under the Information Technology Act and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. During preliminary questioning of the accused, he confessed, without coercion, that his intention was to intentionally harass Pankaja Munde.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has described its seriousness on this incident by saying that targeting individuals in public office is not only unlawful but poses a risk to social security. The department has requested that the public be sure to report any incidents of this nature to the police so that action can be quickly taken.
