In a shocking incident, a man died after a “drunk” doctor allegedly performed a surgery on him in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi. After the incident, the family members of the deceased staged a protest outside the hospital that lasted for several hours. Later, an inquiry was ordered into the matter.
According to a report published in NDTV, Shivram Mishra, a resident of Mau village of Amethi district, was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi hospital with a complaint of chest pain on February 26. Mishra’s grandson said that Dr Sanjay Dwivedi asked to get some tests done.
Later, the doctors told Mishra’s grandson that there was an issue of nerves. Two more doctors joined Dr Sanjay Dwivedi and his grandfather was taken to the operation theater.
Mishra’s grandson alleged that he saw that staff were running for oxygen cylinders and other equipment. He alleged that there were no proper arrangements. He alleged Dr Dwivedi was “drunk”.
After the incident, Dr Dwivedi left the hospital. After a massive protest, the Amethi CMO has constituted a three-member panel to probe the charges.
The police said a complaint has been registered in the matter and the body has been sent for postmortem. A probe is on into the matter.
