Man Attacked With Axe In UP’s Shamli, Incident Captured On CCTV

The police said the victim had allegedly used inappropriate comments for the accused’s sister.

A man was brutally attacked by a villager with an axe in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli. The incident took place outside the victim’s residence when he was sitting with his children. The victim has been identified as Sarfaraz, and the accused’s name is Govind.

Victim’s condition is said to be critical

Sarfaraz has been admitted to the hospital where his condition is said to be critical. The eyewitnesses said that Govind fled the crime scene, but he was seen, later, roaming with the axe triggering panic among the locals.

Incident was captured on CCTV

The police said the victim had allegedly used inappropriate comments for the accused’s sister after which he committed the crime. The incident was captured on CCTV and the video has gone viral on social media.

Police launched a probe

The police have launched a probe into the matter. The cops assured that the accused will be nabbed soon.

Delhi: Police arrest man in Preet Vihar firing

In a separate incident, the staff of Preet Vihar Police Station, East District, arrested one individual involved in a recent firing incident outside the Restaurant & Bar. The action was part of ongoing efforts to enforce the district’s zero-tolerance policy against crime, a release said.

Police registered an FIR

According to police, the incident took place on the night of April 26 around 10:30 PM, when a person, Sachin (30), a resident of Shahdara, reported that shots were fired into the air outside the restaurant. Acting promptly, officers registered a first information report under Section 324(6) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act after verifying the facts.

Accused was a resident of Etah

During the investigation, the crime scene was carefully examined, leading to the recovery of one empty shell and a live cartridge. Utilising CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence inputs, the police team successfully identified and apprehended the accused, identified as Affak, a resident of Etah district in Uttar Pradesh. An illegal pistol, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, was recovered from his possession at the time of arrest.
