A 60-year-old woman was allegedly killed by a history-sheeter in Maharashtra’s Kalyan. The police arrested the history-sheeter. The deceased has been identified as Ranjana Patekar.

According to a PTI report, the accused, 30-year-old Muhammad Sheikh alias Chand knocked on the victim’s house door and asked for a glass of water. When the victim turned to get it, he entered the house realising no one was present, he allegedly strangled her while raising the voice of the television. He looted gold jewellery worth Rs one lakh from her residence.
The police said the accused wanted to start his street food business.

A senior police officer said Muhammad Sheikh was released from Adharwadi jail eight months ago, and he was jobless since then. He wanted to start a roadside stall.
The police arrested the accused on April 4 and recovered the looted jewellery from his possession.
Man arrested for wife’s murder
In a separate incident, a man was arrested by the Electronic City Police in Bengaluru after he allegedly murdered his wife on a deserted street in Pragathi Nagar late on Friday evening.
The victim, identified as 35-year-old Sharda, was reportedly returning home from work when she was attacked and strangled by her husband, Krishna, around 8 PM near Big Toguru in the Electronic City area.
According to officials, Krishna was involved in an extramarital affair, which is believed to be a possible motive for the crime.

The brutal incident unfolded in full public view, and Krishna attempted to flee the scene after committing the crime. However, alert residents managed to apprehend him and promptly handed him over to the police.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast Division) Sarah Fatima confirmed that the control room received an emergency call about the incident at 8:00 PM on April 4. A police team from the Electronic City Police Station, including the PSI and other officials, responded swiftly and took the accused into custody at the scene.
