New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary Monday hit back at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying that the latter is acting upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directions.
“Mamata Banerjee is speaking on the direction of the PM Modi. PM and Didi (Mamata) have a deal to defame the image of Rahul Gandhi and Congress.”
Chawdhary alleged that PM Modi was the first one to say ‘Congress-Mukht Bharat.’ At that time, Mamata Banerjee was on the right path but her narrative changed after her nephew was called by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
“She wants to save herself from ED-CBI raids that’s why she is against Congress as PM will be happy with this,” he added.
This comes after the West Bengal CM made a strong statement against former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. In her statement, Banerjee said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intended to make Rahul Gandhi a “hero” of the Opposition to benefit itself.

As per the news agency PTI, a senior TMC leader said, the WB CM was addressing party workers over a phone call in Murshidabad district, when she said the Congress has failed to fight the BJP.
“Our party supremo, while addressing our internal meeting over the phone, said the BJP is deliberately trying to make a hero out of Rahul Gandhi by stalling the Parliament proceedings over his remarks. The BJP is doing this to serve its own interests so that other opposition parties can’t raise issues concerning the people. They want to make Rahul Gandhi a hero of the opposition camp,” TMC Murshidabad district chairman and MP Abu Taher told PTI.
