West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday hailed after the state’s Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority secured a top rank in the Best Urban Local Body category at the 6th National Water Awards.
The chief minister said in a post on X, “A proud moment for West Bengal and its urban management!! Our Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority (NDITA- Sector V) , West Bengal, has secured a top rank in the Best Urban Local Body category at the 6th National Water Awards, 2024, conferred by the Ministry of Jal Shakti Government of India for outstanding water resources conservation and management. This recognition is a testament to our commitment towards sustainable water management and urban resilience. Heartiest congratulations to all those who made this possible and all stakeholders.”

On November 11, Union minister of Jal Shakti Shri CR Paatil announced the list of winners of 6th National Water Awards at Shram Shakti Bhawan New Delhi.
The Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD &GR), under the Ministry of Jal Shakti declared the 46 winners, including joint winners, for the 6th National Water Awards for the year 2024 in 10 categories viz Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, Best School or College, Best Industry, Best Water User Association, Best Institution (other than school or college), Best Civil Society and Best individual for excellence in water sector.
Minister of State for the Ministry of Jal Shakti Shri Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, Secretary Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD &GR), Sh V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation Shri Ashok K.K Meena and other Senior officials of Ministry of Jal Shakti joined the Cabinet Minister in announcing the National Water Awards.
