The fourth meeting of the INDIA bloc has ended with a big decision that has been taken by 28 political parties of the alliance. West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee proposed Mallikarjun Kharge’s name for the PM’s face in the upcoming elections in 2024.
This proposal was backed by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and many others.

Announcing the PM’s face and being on the same page with a single name was assumed as a big challenge for the alliance that has been formed to stop Modi’s unbeatable scores. The evident differences in political parties before the recent assembly elections established the not-so-sure future of this bloc. Disparities between SP and Congress while seat sharing and souring of relationships reflected a picture where the INDIA bloc couldn’t be one on any subject.
But after losing two major states of the Hindi belt to the saffron brigade of BJP, Congress seems to have softened its tone, and Kamal Nath has been shifted to a corner. Congress not driving the other 27 parties on centripetal force might have made others more generous.
While there may be other reasons for this kindness from the parties. For instance, the fact that they know how hard it is to win over Narendra Modi. But this unpredictable solidarity is the moment.

However, the Congress president has little different views on it. Mallikarjun Kharge sidelines the proposal of his name as PM’s face of the alliance and states that the bloc should focus on strategies to win. To have a PM from the alliance, we should have a sufficient number of MPs in the elections, he said.
