Nagpur: Ahead of Congress president polls, Senior leader Shashi Tharoor Sunday said Mallikarjun Kharge will not be able to bring change in the system, instead he will continue with the existing one.

Tharoor was speaking in Nagpur where he stated that the elections of Congress’ chief post is not a war and also clarified that him and Kharge are not enemies.

“We are not enemies, it is not a war. It’s a poll for our party’s future. Kharge Ji comes in top 3 leaders of Congress party. Leaders like him cannot bring change and will continue the existing system. I’ll bring change as per expectations of party workers,” said the Congress MP.

Meanwhile, Senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge who is also running for Congress’ chief polls started his campaign on Sunday. In a press conference held earlier this morning, he claimed that party’s many senior leaders have encouraged him to contest chief’s election for the grand-old party.

To throw their weight behind Kharge, three spokespersons of the Congress including Gourav Vallabh, Deepender S Hooda and Syed Naseer Hussain have forsaken their position.

“All 3 of us resign from the post of official spokesperson to campaign for the election of Mallikarjun Kharge as party president and want this election to be free and fair,” said Congress’ Gourav Vallabh.
