In a significant operation, security forces have successfully averted a potential terrorist attack in Uri, North Kashmir, following the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition. The operation took place in the forests of Anganpathri, located in the Baramulla district, where a joint team of police and army acted on specific intelligence inputs.
The forces discovered the weapons concealed within a hollow tree, cleverly covered with a blanket to evade detection. The impressive haul includes three AK-47 rifles, eleven AK magazines, 292 rounds of AK ammunition, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), nine UBGL grenades, and two hand grenades.
Authorities have initiated a case regarding this incident, with investigations underway to track down the terrorists who intended to use these arms for an attack on security personnel. In light of recent threats, including an attack on an ex-Army personnel and his family, security forces have heightened their alert status across the Kashmir Valley.
As part of the ongoing security measures, over 500 individuals have been detained for questioning from various areas spanning south to north Kashmir.
